Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and the fine sea salt. Pour in the whole milk and whisk vigorously until the sugar has completely dissolved. You should not feel any grit at the bottom of the bowl when you stir.
- Stir in the heavy cream and the pure vanilla extract. Use a gentle whisking motion to ensure everything is well combined without whipping too much air into the mixture. For the best results, cover the bowl and chill this mixture in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
- Pour the chilled mixture into the bowl of your ice cream maker. Turn the machine on and churn according to the manufacturer’s directions. This usually takes between 20 and 25 minutes. The ice cream should reach a consistency similar to soft-serve.
- Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight, freezer-safe container. Smooth the top with a spatula. Place a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the ice cream to prevent ice crystals from forming. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
