Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans (15 oz each) sliced peaches in heavy syrup or juice
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray to ensure the dessert is easy to scoop out later.
- Layer the Peaches: Pour the two cans of sliced peaches, including the syrup or juice, directly into the prepared baking dish. Spread them out evenly so they cover the bottom of the pan.
- Season the Fruit: Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and brown sugar evenly over the top of the peaches. This enhances the flavor and helps create a thick, spiced syrup while baking.
- Add the Cake Mix: Open the box of yellow cake mix and sprinkle the dry powder evenly over the peaches. Use a spoon or your hands to make sure the peaches are fully covered. Do not stir the mixture!
- Drizzle the Butter: Carefully pour the melted butter over the top of the dry cake mix. Try to cover as much of the dry powder as possible to ensure a golden, crispy crust.
- Bake to Perfection: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. The cake is done when the top is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling up around the edges.
