Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls or slider buns
  • 2 cups cooked pulled pork (shredded)
  • 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup red onions, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeño slices (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray to prevent the buns from sticking.
  2. Without pulling the individual rolls apart, slice the entire slab of slider buns in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of the buns into the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the shredded pulled pork with about 3/4 cup of the BBQ sauce. Stir well until the meat is evenly coated and moist. You can add more sauce if you prefer a “wetter” slider.
  4. Spread the BBQ pork mixture evenly over the bottom halves of the buns. Sprinkle the diced red onions and pickled jalapeños over the meat. Finally, cover everything with a generous layer of shredded cheese.
  5. Place the top half of the buns over the cheese layer. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley. Use a pastry brush to coat the tops of the buns evenly with the butter mixture.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. Bake for 10 minutes to melt the cheese. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the tops of the buns are golden brown and toasted. Let them cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
