Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of high-quality deli turkey breast
- 4 slices of deli ham
- 2 ounces of cheddar cheese (sliced or cubed)
- 10–12 whole grain crackers
- 1/2 cup of fresh grapes or apple slices
- 5–6 baby carrots or cucumber slices
- 1 small piece of dark chocolate (optional treat)
Instructions
- Take your deli turkey and ham slices. You can either roll them up tightly or fold them into small squares so they fit perfectly into your container’s compartment. If the slices are very large, cut them in half before rolling.
- If you have a block of cheese, slice it into small squares that match the size of your crackers. If you are using pre-sliced cheese, use a small cookie cutter or a knife to create bite-sized portions that are easy for little hands to stack.
- Wash the grapes and carrots thoroughly. Pat them dry with a paper towel. It is important that the produce is dry so it doesn’t transfer moisture to the crackers, which could make them lose their crunch.
- Place the turkey and ham in one section of your bento box. Put the crackers in a separate section to keep them dry. Add the cheese, fruit, and vegetables into the remaining compartments. If your box doesn’t have dividers, you can use silicone cupcake liners to create separate zones.
- Add your optional treat, like a piece of dark chocolate or a few almonds, in a small corner. Close the lid tightly and store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to leave.
