  • Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados, pitted and peeled
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Begin by finely mincing your red onion, garlic, and cilantro. If you prefer a bit of heat, seed and mince the jalapeño as well. Having these ingredients ready ensures that you can mix everything quickly once the avocados are opened, which prevents browning.
  2. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the green flesh into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Use a fork or a potato masher to crush the avocado until you reach your desired consistency. Some people prefer a chunky texture, while others like it completely smooth.
  3. Pour the fresh lime juice over the mashed avocado immediately to preserve the bright green color. Add the minced onion, garlic, cilantro, jalapeño, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together gently until the ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the dip.
  4. Give your dip a quick taste. If it needs more zing, add a splash more lime juice. If it needs more depth, add a tiny pinch of salt. Once the flavors are balanced to your liking, transfer the dip to a serving bowl.
