Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large Roma tomatoes, diced
- 1 medium red onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1–2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Instructions
- Wash all your produce thoroughly. Finely dice the Roma tomatoes and the red onion. If you prefer a milder salsa, be sure to remove all the seeds and white membranes from the jalapeños before mincing them. Place all the chopped vegetables into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the minced garlic and the freshly chopped cilantro to the bowl with the tomatoes and onions. Pour in the fresh lime juice and sprinkle the salt and ground cumin over the top. The lime juice acts as a natural preservative and helps draw out the juices from the tomatoes.
- Stir the mixture gently with a spoon until all the ingredients are evenly distributed. Taste the salsa and add more salt or lime juice if needed. For the best results, cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This resting time allows the flavors to meld together and the tomatoes to release their natural sweetness.
